Machu Picchu Challenge

October 30th 2019

Hi folks

Well here I am back at work and settled in to the old routine again.

Just thought I’d let you know…. we did it !  It still doesn’t seem real but I attach photo’s taken at the beginning, middle (highest point of the trail) and end (x2) of our trek, as proof.

Safe to say, 26 miles of walking over 36 hours at altitudes as high as 4215m is most definitely a challenge but I’m very pleased to report that Team Girlguiding survived the Inca Trail.  Although it was tough and there were times when all we could think about was putting one foot in front of the other, we had plenty of giggles along the way and reaching our final goal, which of course was Machu Picchu, made it all worthwhile.

All 12 team members are Girlguiding volunteers and we took on this challenge to help the charity change the lives of other girls and women around the world.  Thank you to everyone who helped with my fundraising events and activities over the past 8 months in order to make this possible – your support and encouragement is greatly appreciated.  As a Brownie leader it means a lot to know that whilst fulfilling a personal goal the money raised for Girlguiding through this trip will be invested in the future of girls and young women giving them fantastic opportunities to help build confidence and reach their true potential.

This has been a truly amazing experience and I look forward to catching up with you all to share more photos of the stunning scenery and stories about my epic adventure (if you’re interested?).
